Mark Fielding – figurative art
Mark Fielding was born in London in 1961. He spent three years studying at Exeter, which would cultivate a love of his for that region. It was on December the 20th, 1998, when Mark was first introduced to Robert Lenkiewicz, who would agreee to teach him. Mark Fielding would spend the next two years as Lenkiewicz’s pupil.
Mark would go on to be selected for the South West Academy Summer Open Exhibition at the Royal Albert Memorial museum, in Exeter in both 2003 and 2004. In 2005 Mark begain painting dancers. His first paintings of dancers were a success, which has since lead to dancers remaining a core subject of his work, even today.
Today, Mark primarily works with ballet and Argentine Tango dancers when painting dancers; leading his work to have exhibited at the London Tango Festival. Mark’s personal thoughts on Tango have also recently been published in ‘Tango Notebook.
Mark Fielding – seascapes
However, , Fielding enjoys painting watercolour seascapes and various other studies of marine art.
‘ Mark also recently exhibited at “UNTITLED,” the UK’s largest artists’ art fair at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London this past June.
The time Mark spent studying under his mentor, Robert Lenkiewicz, had a tremendous and lasting impact on Mark’s work. As Fielding describes his own work:
“I am a figurative painter based in Cornwall, specialising in marine landscapes. I have recently embarked on a series of Westcountry harbours and beaches showing a variety of fishing boats and fishermen. I also paint more imaginative work as well as semi abstract paintings and portraits.”
According to Mark Fielding’s website, he plans on publishing a book based on the conversations he had with his former mentor. Today Mark works out of Cornwall where he continues to study and paint the Cornish harbours.
